The Little Pomegranate Series brings together short films, performances and conversations from the lands of pomegranates and their diasporas. Across four evenings, we explore queer lives, bodies, desire, friendship, exile, identity and the many ways of being and belonging.

For our second edition, we will screen three films followed by a performance by Noamis.

Mel · 2022 · 76 min
Directed by Inna Sahakyan & Paul Cohen
A documentary portrait of Mel, a transgender weightlifter from Armenia. The film follows Mel’s life and experiences, offering an intimate look at gender, identity and the challenges of living openly in a society where trans lives remain largely underrepresented. Mel is part of Inna Sahakyan’s wider body of work, which focuses on stories and perspectives that are often overlooked.

Directed by Asha Shahinian
A short film that explores identity, intimacy and the experience of being seen. Justine is part of Asha Shahinian’s filmmaking practice, which moves between questions of personal experience, relationships and the construction of identity.

Birthmark · 2026 · 20 min
Directed by George Peter Barbari
A new short film by George Peter Barbari, whose work engages with questions of queer identity, relationships and belonging. Birthmark continues his exploration of intimate stories and the ways personal experiences can intersect with wider questions of identity and community.

🎤 Performance by Noamis

We will end the evening with a performance by Noamis (they/them), a non-binary artist whose music moves between the gentle sounds of bedroom pop and the energetic rhythms of indie rock. Their songs speak about queerness, mental health and relationships, creating music that can feel both intimate and powerful.
