The Little Pomegranate Series · 03

📅 Sunday, 11 October 2026
🕖 19:00
📍 AKEBI e.V., Böckhstraße 24, 10967 Berlin

For the third edition of The Little Pomegranate Series, we bring together filmmakers Chantal Partamian and Deniz Şimşek for an evening of films, works in progress, and collective conversation.

Deniz and Chantal share artistic interests that intersect in multiple ways. Deniz, from Turkey and now based in Berlin, and Chantal, from Lebanon and now living in Quebec, approach questions of history, memory, identity, queerness and visibility through their filmmaking practices.

We will screen Deniz’s Detours While Speaking of Monsters (2024), which traces the presence of a mythological creature in the landscape around Lake Van, where Armenian and Kurdish histories of violence and erasure intertwine, and Chantal’s Traces (2023), an experimental film working with found footage to bring queer women’s bodies and intimacies into view within the context of 1980s Lebanon.

Alongside these films, the two artists will share excerpts from works in progress and upcoming projects. Moving between screenings and conversation, we’ll explore the connections and differences in their practices, touching on nation-states and belonging, mythology, queerness, visibility, historical erasure, and politicised bodies.

This is an open conversation, and your participation is warmly encouraged. Come ready to listen, exchange thoughts, and discover unexpected connections across places, histories, and artistic practices.

Please arrive on time, as the evening begins at 19:00.

Free entry.
