Back to Sölöz – Film Screening and Q&A with Serge Avédikian

It is our pleasure to invite you to the screening of the film “Back to Sölöz” by the French-Armenian filmmaker Serge Avedikian on the 13th of May (Saturday) at 16:00. As the title suggests, the film is documenting the return of Serge Avedikian to his grandparent’s village in Bursa: Four times in three decades, the director visited Sölöz, where his roots are from. Throughout his successive returns from 1987 to 2019, he has drawn from this experience a powerful film on the themes of identity, historical truth and reconciliation. Serge Avedikian, a ‘Golden Palm’ winning director will also be present at the screening to share his cinematic and personal experience with us by answering questions from the audience following the screening. The talk with the director will be moderated by the Berlin-based filmmaker, writer and director of the Asian Film Festival Berlin Sun-ju Choi.

As Akebi e.V., we regularly organize events addressing the Armenian Genocide and how to come to terms with it, as well as engaging in dialogue between Armenian, Kurdish and Turkish communities in Berlin.
